ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
O sing a new song to the Lord, for he has worked wonders, in the sight of the nations he has shown his deliverance, alleluia. (Ps 98:1-2)
PENITENTIAL RITE
Christian Faith is firmly rooted in the person of Jesus Christ. To be more precise, it is based on the Easter proclamation of Jesus who suffered, died and rose again. God the Father sent his only Son into the world but rebellion against Godís Son brought about his death. But God surprised the world by raising Jesus from the dead. God expects that human beings in obedience to Him to become fruit-bearing persons. That is why Jesus can say that he is the True Wine and those who remain attached to him will bear fruit. He also affirms that those who do not bear fruit have no place in him. Let us pause for a moment and see if I am abiding in Jesus or am I producing the fruits. (Pause)

FIRST READING
(In the aftermath of his conversion Paul has to face several obstacles. When he

comes to Jerusalem, the Christians there are afraid of him and the apostles would not accept him into their company).
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (9:26-31)
When Saul had come to Jerusalem he attempted to join the disciples; and they were all afraid of him, for they did not believe that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how on the road he had seen the Lord, who spoke to him, and how at Damascus he had preached boldly in the name of Jesus. So he went in and out among them at Jerusalem, preaching boldly in the name of the Lord. And he spoke and disputed against the Hellenists; but they were seeking to kill him. And when the brethren knew it, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him off to Tarsus.
So the Church throughout all Judea and Galilee and Samaria had peace and was built up; and walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit it was multiplied.
The Word of the Lord
PSALM (22)
Response: You, Lord, are my praise in the great assembly.
My vows I will pay before those who fear him. The poor shall eat and shall have their fill. They shall praise the Lord, those who seek him. May their hearts live for ever and ever. R./
All the earth shall remember and return to the Lord, all families of the nations worship before him. They shall worship
