Vol: 44, No.5 CHRISTMAS - DAWN & DAY MASS ( A) December 25 2016

Cel: God our Father, we thank you for inviting us to participate in the celebration of the birth of your Son. Grant us the grace that we too may become communicators of the marvellous event just as the shepherds in the field who showed haste in searching for the child and eventually found him with amazement and wonder. We make this prayer …
PRAYER OVER THE OFFERINGS
May our offerings be worthy, we pray, O Lord, of the mysteries of the Nativity this day, that, just as Christ was born a man and also shone forth as God, so these earthly gifts may confer on us what is divine. Through Christ our Lord.
PREFACE III (Nativity)
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
For through him the holy exchange that

restores our life has shone forth today in splendour: when our frailty is assumed by your Word not only does human mortality receive unending honour but by this wondrous union we, too, are made eternal.
And so, in company with the choirs of Angels, we praise you, and with joy we proclaim:
All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts…
COMMUNION ANTIPHON
Rejoice, O Daughter of Zion; lift up praise, Daughter of Jerusalem: Behold, your King will come, the Holy One and Saviour of the world. (Zech 9:9)
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Grant us, Lord, as we honour with joyful devotion the Nativity of your Son, that we may come to know with fullness of faith the hidden depths of this mystery and to love them ever more and more. Through Christ our Lord.

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
A child is born for us, and a son is given to us; his sceptre of power rests upon his shoulder, and his name will be called Messenger of great counsel. (Isa 9:5)
I confess to almighty God... (See Page 1)
Glory to God in the highest...
COLLECT
O God, who wonderfully created the dignity of human nature and still more wonderfully restored it, grant, we pray, that we may share in the divinity of Christ, who humbled himself to share in our humanity. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
FIRST READING
(Isaiah extols the messengers who announce the good tidings of salvation. The time has come to shout for joy and victory because God has comforted his people).

A reading from the Book of Isaiah (52:7-10)
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good tidings, who publishes peace, who brings good tidings of good, who publishes salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns.” Hark, your watchmen lift up their voice, together they sing for joy; for eye to eye they see the return of the Lord to Zion. Break forth together into singing, you waste places of Jerusalem; for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. The Lord has bared his holy arm before the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
The Word of the Lord
PSALM (97)
Response: All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
Sing a new song to the Lord for he has worked wonders. His right hand and his holy arm have brought salvation. R/
