Vol: 46, No.23 5TH SUNDAY OF LENT ( C) April 07 2019
Father almighty;/from there he will come to judge the living and the dead./I believe in the Holy Spirit,/the holy catholic Church,/the communion of saints,/the forgiveness of sins,/the resurrection of the body,/and life everlasting. Amen.
Cel: The law allowed the woman brought before Jesus to be stoned to death but Jesus saved her life. The only condition that Jesus put to the woman on freeing her is that she should not fall back to the same error again. This is what God always looks for from us. That we may amend our ways and embrace newness of life, we pray, saying,
Response: Lord, forgive us our trespasses.
1. For the pope, the bishops, the clergy, and the religious that they may deal with pastorally sensitive issues with discretion and compassion, we pray … R/
2. That human rights may be protected and human dignity upheld in every place so that every person will feel free to live his/her life without fear, we pray … R/
3. That Catholic pastors and educators may assume the responsibility for forming the character of the youth and instil in them good and lasting values, we pray … R/
4. That prejudices and revengefulness may be removed from human minds and that they may be substituted by compassion and neighbourly charity, we pray … R/
5. For all of us present in this Eucharistic assembly that enlightened by the Word of God we may not be overzealous in condemning another person when we ourselves are guilty of the same wrongdoing, we pray … R/
(Pause to pray for personal and community needs)
Cel: God, our Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus who saved a
human person from a tense situation by pronouncing judgement coupled with compassion. It is sin that you condemn and not the sinner. Extend your compassionate gaze upon us as we face difficulties and trials in our lives. We make this prayer …
Hear us, almighty God, and, having instilled in your servants the teachings of the Christian faith, graciously purify them by the working of this sacrifice. Through Christ our Lord.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
For by your gracious gift each year your faithful await the sacred paschal feasts with the joy of minds made pure, so that, more eagerly intent on prayer and on the works of charity, and participating in the mysteries by which they have been reborn, they may be led to the fullness of grace that you bestow on your sons and daughters.
And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:
All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts…
Everyone who lives and believes in me will not die for ever, says the Lord. (Jn 11:26)
We pray, almighty God, that we may always be counted among the members of Christ, in whose Body and Blood we have communion. Who lives and reigns for ever and ever.
