the dead./I believe in the Holy Spirit,/the holy catholic Church,/the communion of saints,/the forgiveness of sins,/the resurrection of the body,/and life everlasting. Amen.
Cel: God’s promise to Abraham of descendants as many as the stars in the sky, and land immeasurable was ratified through a covenant. The Transfiguration is an assurance to his chosen disciples that Jesus is truly the Son of God. That we too may firmly trust in God for the fulfilment of his promises to us, we pray, saying,
Response: Lord, may your name be glorified.
1. For the pope, the bishops, the clergy and the religious that following the example of Abraham they too may be people of faith, we pray … R/
2. For the Church which is the custodian of faith that she may encourage the faithful to live their faith amidst the trials and difficulties that come on their way, we pray … R/
3. That the Holy Eucharist which is the new and perfect covenant that Jesus established by shedding his blood on the cross may draw the faithful closer to God our Father, and Jesus our Saviour, we pray … R/
4. For peace and harmony in the world that human beings who have a common origin and share a common destiny may not consider another human being as his/her enemy but a fellow human person who should be loved and cared for, we pray … R/
5. For all of us present for the celebration of the Transfiguration of the Lord Jesus that we may depart from this sacred assembly with the assurance that we too are called to encounter the risen Christ in his glory, we pray … R/
(Pause to pray for personal and community needs)
Cel: God, our loving Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus who appeared to his disciples in all his glory. Jesus shared our human nature and submitted himself to all the joys and pains of being human. Give us the grace that trusting in your promise of eternal life we may journey towards it through Jesus our Lord and Master. We make this prayer …
May this sacrifice, O Lord, we pray, cleanse us of our faults and sanctify your faithful in body and mind for the celebration of the paschal festivities. Through Christ our Lord.
PREFACEI (Transfiguration)
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
For after he had told the disciples of his coming Death, on the holy mountain he manifested to them his glory, to show, even by the testimony of the Law and the Prophets, that the Passion leads to the glory of the Resurrection.
And so, with the Powers of heaven, we worship you constantly on earth, and before your majesty without end we acclaim:
All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts…
This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him. (Mt 17:5)
As we receive these glorious mysteries, we make thanksgiving to you, O Lord, for allowing us while still on earth to be partakers even now of the things of heaven. Through Christ our Lord.
