Vol: 46, No.14 5TH SUNDAY OF THE YEAR ( C) February 10 2019
I believe in God,/the Father almighty,/ Creator of heaven and earth,/ and in Jesus Christ,/his only Son,/our Lord,/who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,/born of the Virgin Mary,/suffered under Pontius Pilate,/was crucified,/died and was buried;/he descended into hell;/on the third day he rose again from the dead;/he ascended into heaven,/and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;/from there he will come to judge the living and the dead./I believe in the Holy Spirit,/the holy catholic Church,/the communion of saints,/the forgiveness of sins,/the resurrection of the body,/and life everlasting. Amen.
Cel: When called to be a prophet Isaiah expressed his inability as a qualified speaker. When the difficulty was removed Isaiah volunteered to be a prophet. Jesus made a bunch of fishermen his disciples by making them know that if they cast the nets at Jesus’ command they could be successful fishermen. Let us pray that being united with Jesus we too may be successful in all our endeavours, saying:
Response: Lord, make us your disciples.
1. For the people, the bishops, the clergy and the religious that as leaders in the Church, they may carry out the responsibilities entrusted to them in a spirit of service, we pray … R/
2. For those who are involved in the work of vocation promotion that in this delicate task of choosing vocations to the priesthood and the religious life they may be assisted by the Spirit of Christ, we pray … R/
3. That Catholic youth may generously respond to the call of God for a service in the Church as priests and religious, we pray … R/
4. That Catholic parents may encourage some of their children to become future
ministers of the Church, we pray … R/
5. For all of us present in this Eucharistic assembly that encouraged by the Word of God we may shed our inhibitions and offer ourselves to the work of evangelization, we pray … R/
(Pause to pray for personal and community needs)
Cel: God, our Father, we thank you for the gift of your Son Jesus who chose fishermen as his apostles. The fishermen seeing the divine power at work in Jesus left everything and followed him. Give us the grace that being called to a life of discipleship we too may contribute to the advancement of the Kingdom and its values.. We make this prayer …
O Lord our God, who once established these created things to sustain us in our frailty, grant, we pray, that they may become for us now the Sacrament of eternal life. Through Christ our Lord.
PREFACE IV (Ordinary)
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
For by his birth he brought renewal to humanity’s fallen state, and by his suffering, cancelled out our sins; by his rising from the dead he has opened the way to eternal life, and by ascending to you, O Father, he has unlocked the gates of heaven.
And so, with the company of Angels and Saints, we sing the hymn of your praise, as without end we acclaim:
All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts…
Let them thank the Lord for his mercy, his wonders for the children of men, for he satisfies the thirsty soul, and the hungry he fills with good things. (Ps 106:8-9)
