Vol: 44, No.2 2ND SUNDAY OF ADVENT ( A) December 04 2016
Cel: Dear brothers and sisters, having listened to God’s word let us heed the Baptist’s call to repentance and conversion so that we may prepare our hearts to welcome the Lord who comes to establish peace and justice in our world, saying,
Response: Lord, listen to our prayer.

1. Let us pray for the leaders of the Church who have the mission of preparing all peoples to welcome Christ, the only Saviour. May the Pope and all pastors of the people of God, like John the Baptist, announce the coming of the Lord through their word and life, we pray… R/
2. Let us pray for our Civil and political authorities: that they may be guided by true human and Christian values in making their decisions, and they may be protected from greed and self-interest in discharging their responsibilities, we pray… R/
3. Let us pray for all our brothers and sisters who are often confused and disoriented by various false ideologies: that they may find in us God’s ‘prophets’ who convey to them the message of truth, peace and justice, we pray… R/
4. Let us pray for all those who suffer due to unemployment, poverty and illness: that with our active and generous involvement, the salvation brought by Christ may lead to their total liberation from all forms of evil, we pray… R/
5. Let us pray for the sick and suffering, especially in our community: that they may experience the presence of the divine Healer and may have the strength to accept in faith a share in the cross of Christ, we pray… R/

(Pause to pray for personal and community needs)
Cel: Father, as we are preparing to receive the gift of your Son, graciously
listen to our petitions and grant us the grace of true repentance and genuine conversion, removing from our hearts all obstacles to the action of your Holy Spirit. We make this prayer…
Be pleased, O Lord, with our humble prayers and offerings, and, since we have no merits to plead our cause, come, we pray, to our rescue with the protection of your mercy. Through Christ our Lord.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, through Christ our Lord.
For he assumed at his first coming the lowliness of human flesh, and so fulfilled the design you formed long ago, and opened for us the way to eternal salvation, that, when he comes again in glory and majesty and all is at last made manifest, we who watch for that day may inherit the great promise in which now we dare to hope.
And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and Dominions, and with all the hosts and powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:
All: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts…
Jerusalem, arise and stand upon the heights, and behold the joy which comes to you from God. (Bar 5:5; 4:36)
Replenished by the good of spiritual nourishment, we humbly beseech you, O Lord, that, through our partaking in this mystery, you may teach us to judge wisely the things of earth and hold firm to the things of heaven. Through Christ our Lord.
