ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
The merciful love of the Lord fills the earth; by the word of the Lord the heavens were made, alleluia. (Ps32:5-6)
PENITENTIAL RITE
With the death of Jesus one more phase in the salvation history came to an end but the resurrection of Jesus opened a new chapter in the salvation history. Jesus laid the foundation for the kingdom of God through his preaching and healing. He also involved his apostles in this same work by sending them on preaching and healing missions. In the time of the apostolic preaching other eminent preachers have emerged, such as Paul and Barnabas. These two carried out many successful missionary journeys and brought the gospel to the hitherto unknown towns of Asia Minor. The Lord has used the apostles to bring light and life to the people. They themselves are not the light or the shepherd; the Lord Jesus is the Shepherd and Light of the world. It is him that we have to announce. How do we cooperate in the work of God? Do we sincerely work towards the advancement of the gospel? (Pause)
I confess to almighty God/and to you,/my brothers and sisters,/that I have greatly sinned,/in my thoughts and in my words,/in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,/through my fault,/through my fault,/through my most grievous fault;/therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,/all the Angels and Saints,/and you,/my brothers and sisters,/to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Glory to God in the highest...

FIRST READING
(The Jews of Antioch of Pisidia respond well to the apostolic preaching but the situation changes after a while. The people turn hostile to the missionaries and drive them out but the Gentiles accept the message of the Good News).
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (13:14, 43-52)
Paul and Barnabas passed on from Perga and came to Antioch of Pisidia. And on the Sabbath day they went into the synagogue and sat down. When the meeting of the synagogue broke up, many Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who spoke to them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered together to hear the word of God. But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with jealousy, and contradicted what was spoken by Paul, and reviled him. And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken first to you. Since you thrust it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of eternal life,
