Vol: 45, No.27 5TH SUNDAY OF EASTER ( B) April 15 2018
Cry out with joy to God, all the earth; O sing to the glory of his name. O render him glorious praise, alleluia. (Ps 65:1-2)
The women who had accompanied Jesus on his journey to Jerusalem were the first to discover that Jesus had been raised. They went with spices to anoint the body early in the morning but found the tomb empty and had a vision of angels who told them about the resurrection. Between the dawn and the dusk of the Easter Sunday Jesus had been seen by his disciples on more than one occasion. He proved to them that he had not turned to a spirit or a ghost but had be-come a really transformed person. Jesus then commissioned the disciples for the mission awaiting them. What is the mission entrusted to me by the risen Lord? Am I willing to do it? (Pause)
I Confess to almighty God/and to you,/ my brothers and sisters,/ that I have greatly sinned,/ in my thoughts and in my words,/ in what I have done/and in what I have failed to do,/ through my fault,/ through my fault,/ through my most grievous fault;/ therefore I ask blessed Mary ever Virgin,/ all the Angels and Saints,/ and you, my brothers and sisters,/ to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Glory to God ...

May your people exult for ever, O God, in renewed youthfulness of spirit, so that, rejoicing now in the restored glory of our adoption, we
may look forward in confident hope to the rejoicing of the day of resurrection. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns....
(Peter’s speech in the Temple area is occasioned by the cure of the lame man. Peter concedes that the Jewish authorities have acted out of ignorance in killing Jesus).
A reading from the Acts of the Apostles (3:13-15, 17-19)
After they cured the lame man at the entrance of the Temple Peter said to the people, “The God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified his servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he had decided to release him. But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses.
“And now, brethren, I know that you acted in ignorance, as did also your rulers. But what God foretold by the mouth of all the prophets, that his Christ should suffer, he thus fulfilled. Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.”
