ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
Turn your ear, O Lord, and answer me, save the servant who trusts in you, my God. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I cry to you all the day long. (Ps 85:1-3).
PENITENTIAL RITE

Pope Francis in his Apostolic Exhortation entitled ‘Joy of the Gospel’ asserts that no doctrinal or theological exposition can replace a personal experience of Jesus. Similarly Swami Vivekananda once said, “If I was in Palestine in the time of Jesus of Nazareth I would have wiped his feet not with my tears but with the blood in my heart.” Only persons with a deep and intimate experience of the divine can make such bold statements. Christian discipleship demands and precedes this firsthand experience of God. None of us can demand and claim this God experience or merit it. All that we can do for such an experience is to be properly disposed to it. Let us ask God’s pardon and mercy for the times we have neglected our duty to prepare ourselves for this God experience. (Pause)

I confess to almighty God/and to you,/my brothers and sisters,/that I have greatly sinned,/in my thoughts and in my words,/in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,/through my fault,/through my fault,/through my most grievous fault;/therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,/all the Angels and Saints,/and you,/my brothers and sisters,/to pray for me to the Lord our God.

Glory to God in the highest...
COLLECT
O God, who cause the minds of the faithful to unite in a single purpose, grant your people to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that, amid the uncertainties of this world, our hearts may be fixed on that place where true gladness is found. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you…
FIRST READING
(In the first reading, God promises to give the keys of the house of David to Eliakim with full authority over his royal household. Here key stands for authority and power).
A reading from the Book of Isaiah (22:19-23)
Thus says the Lord God of hosts to Shebna, the master of the household, “I will thrust you from your office, and you will be cast down from your station. In that day I will call my servant Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and I will clothe him with your robe, and will bind your girdle on him, and will commit your authority to his hand; and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. And I will place on his shoulder the key of the house of David; he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open. And I will fasten him like a peg in a sure place. And he will become a throne of honour to his father’s house.”
