Vol: 44, No.8 THE EPITHANY OF THE LORD ( A) January 08 2017
Behold, the Lord, the Mighty One, has come; and kingship is in his grasp, and power and dominion. (Mal 3:1; 1 Chr 29:12)

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord. The manifestation of the salvation of God in Jesus is the focal point of the liturgy today. On this day, let us be grateful to God for revealing us his plan of salvation in Jesus. Let us pray that we may put ourselves in the right disposition to encounter the Lord who reveals himself. And let us ask pardon for our negligence and lack of interest in receiving and understanding the revelation of God in Jesus. (Pause)

I confess to almighty God/and to you,/my brothers and sisters,/that I have greatly sinned,/in my thoughts and in my words,/in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,/through my fault,/ through my fault,/through my most grievous fault;/therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,/all the Angels and Saints,/and you,/my brothers and sisters,/to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Glory to God in the highest...
O God, who on this day revealed your Only Begotten Son to the nations by the guidance of a star, grant in your mercy that we, who know you already by faith, may be brought to behold the beauty of your sublime glory. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns...
(Through the lips of the prophet Isaiah, the Lord predicts freedom for the Israelites who live in Babylonian captivity).
A reading from the Book of Isaiah

Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be carried in the arms. Then you shall see and be radiant, your heart shall thrill and rejoice; because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you. A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come. They shall bring gold and frankincense, and shall proclaim the praise of the Lord.
The Word of the Lord
PSALM (71)
Response: All nations shall fall prostrate before you, O Lord.
O God, give your judgement to the king, to a king’s son your justice, that he may judge your people in justice and your poor in right judgement. R/
In his days justice shall flourish and peace till the moon fails. He shall rule
