Vol: 44, No.7 MARY, MOTHER OF GOD ( A) January 01 2017

ENTRANCE ANTIPHON
Hail, Holy Mother, who gave birth to the King who rules heaven and earth for ever.
PENITENTIAL RITE

We are privileged to begin the New Year by celebrating the Solemnity of Mary the Holy Mother of God. Mary was “full of grace” even before she became the mother of Jesus; her feast of the Immaculate Conception reminds us of this. Mary is also our Mother, and she is the model of all virtues. Her faith in God, her obedience to His plan, her humility in acknowledging her nothingness, her willingness to suffer together with Jesus without complaint, her love for God and neighbour, her praising and thanking God for everything He did in her life are all examples of her virtuous life. Let us thank and praise the Mother and ask her help so that we may be able to imitate her. Let us now be sorry for our failures and sins. (Pause)

I confess to almighty God/and to you,/my brothers and sisters,/that I have greatly sinned,/in my thoughts and in my words,/in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,/through my fault,/ through my fault,/through my most grievous fault;/therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,/all the Angels and Saints,/and you,/my brothers and sisters,/to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Glory to God in the highest...
COLLECT
O God, who through the fruitful virginity of Blessed Mary bestowed on

the human race the grace of eternal salvation, grant, we pray, that we may experience the intercession of her, through whom we were found worthy to receive the author of life, our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.

The Lord said to Moses, “Say to Aaron and his sons. Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, The Lord bless you and keep you: The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you: The Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.”

God, be gracious and bless us and let your face shed its light upon us. So will your ways be known upon earth and all nations learn your saving help. R/
Let the nations be glad and exult for you rule the world with justice. With fairness you rule the peoples, you guide the nations on earth. R/
Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you. May God still
