He fed them with the finest wheat and satisfied them with honey from the rock. (Ps 80:17)

The Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) is a feast of the Eucharist. The miraculous multiplication of the loaves in today’s gospel indicates that Jesus greatly cared for the physical hunger of the people who came to him for spiritual enlightenment. During the course of his ministry Jesus shared many meals in people’s homes, but the last meal he ate with his disciples was truly a special one. It was a Passover meal and Jesus transformed it into a Eucharistic Meal. When normal bread and wine brought to the altar as gifts are consecrated they turn into the Holy Body and Blood of Christ which is the feast that we are celebrating today. Eucharist nourishes the life of a Christian. How do I approach the Holy Eucharist? (Pause)

I confess to almighty God/and to you,/my brothers and sisters,/that I have greatly sinned,/in my thoughts and in my words, /in what I have done and in what I have failed to do,/through my fault,/ through my fault,/through my most grievous fault;/therefore I ask blessed Mary ever-Virgin,/all the Angels and Saints,/and you,/my brothers and sisters,/to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Glory to God in the highest...

O God, who in this wonderful Sacrament have left us a memorial
of your Passion, grant us, we pray, so to revere the sacred mysteries of your Body and Blood that we may always experience in ourselves the fruits of your redemption. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
(In this passage Melchizedek offers bread and wine, and blesses Abraham after he has rescued Lot from the hands of his enemies).
A reading from the Book of Genesis (14:18-20)
Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was a priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, maker of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!” And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
