Vol: 43, No.32 PENTECOST SUNDAY ( C) May 15 2016
The Love of God has been poured into our hearts through the Spirit of God dwelling within us, alleluia. (Rom 5:5)

The Jewish harvest festival of Pentecost provided an ideal setting for the birth of the Church. Harvest festivals are always joyous for at harvest time the farmer sees the result of his hard labour. Jewish people were in the habit of going to Jerusalem to celebrate major feasts. And so a large congregation was readily available in the Temple precinct in Jerusalem to witness the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the apostles. The Holy Spirit always takes active part in all the creative works of God. To the onlookers everything that was happening around them appeared crazy and said that the apostles were under the influence of new wine but Peter made it clear that God was doing something new. Am I willing to be anointed by the Spirit for a new turn in my life? Do I want to be a part of this new creation? (Pause)

And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. And they were amazed and wondered, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from
