The celebrant greets all present with one of the following greetings.

C. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

P. And also with you.

C. The grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

P. Blessed be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The celebrant or other minister may be briefly introduce the Mass of the day. Then follows the penitential rite.

PENITENTIAL ACT (A)

C. My brothers and sisters, to prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries, let us call to mind our sins.

After a brief silence, all say:

ALL. I confess to almighty God, and to you, my brothers and sisters, that I have sinned through my own fault, in my thoughts and in my words, in what I have done, and in what I have failed to do; and I ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints, and you, my brothers and sisters, to pray for me to the Lord our God.

C. May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.

P. Amen.

(B)

After a brief silence, the celebrant says:

Glory be to God on high And on earth peace to men who are God’s friends. We praise you. We bless you. We adore you. We glorify you. We give you thanks for your great glory. Lord God, heavenly King. God the almighty Father. Lord Jesus Christ, only-begotten Son. Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father. You, who take away the sins of the world, have mercy on us. You who take away the sins of the world receive our prayer. You who are seated at the right hand of the Father, have mercy on us. For you alone are the Holy One. You alone are the Lord. You alone are the Most High, Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit, in the glory of God the Father. Amen.
